Ertl, Laverna #3 (23 AUG 1918 - 16 NOV 2007)

Laverna Ertl, 89, Colby, formerly of Unity, died at her home on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007. A celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m., on Nov. 20, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Norty Spencer, Wis. The Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiated. The celebration of her life concluded with burial at West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Bruesewitz, Mike Rahm, John Paul Spring, Ronald Ertl, Dennis Bruesewitz and David Bruesewitz.

Laverna Bruesewitz was born on Aug. 23. 1918, in the town of Brighton, Marathon County, to Robert and Amanda (nee Frimund) Bruesewitz. She married Henry "Hank" Ertl on Nov. 28, 1936, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Spencer, Wis. She helped her husband with his carpentry work, was a homemaker, and was the family cookie and chili maker.

Survivors include one brother, Elroy "Bud" Bruesewitz, Marshfield; nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Henry; her brother, Delmar Bruesewitz; and her sister, Alvera Zygarlicki.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
