Curtiss - May 7, 1942

The Ladies’ Aid of St. Paul’s Lutheran church will hold an apron sale in connection with their regular meeting at the village hall on Thursday afternoon, May 14. Lunch will be served and the public is invited.

At the last regular meeting of the Curtiss School P.T.A. the following officers were elected for next year: Pres., Rev. G. E. Borreson; vice president, Mrs. Chas. Jakel; secretary, Miss Edith Candahl; treasurer, Mrs. Wm. Fahrenbach, Sr.

It was voted the P.T.A. prepare a program for Memorial Day. The committee appointed were Rev. G. E. Borreson, Miss Edith Candahl and Mrs. Fred Pudlas.

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Erickson and daughter, Ethel Erickson, spent the week-end with relatives at LaCrosse.

Guy Dunow who has been employed in Chicago returned here last week and is employed at the Laabs cheese factory.

Mrs. Henry Peterson returned home on Saturday from Colby where she had been taking care of Mrs. Lester Guetschow and infant the past twelve days.

A.F. Harmel, who has been confined to a Minneapolis hospital since January, is to be taken to a veterans’ hospital in Chicago for examination according to word received here from his wife who also is in Minneapolis.

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Herrick of Curtiss and Mrs. Clarence Ravey of Unity drove to Packwaukee on Sunday to visit the former’s father who is seriously ill. Their daughter, Gwendolyn Herrick, accompanied them from Stevens Point.

Wm. Zuelke of Madison spent the week-end at the Frank Kraut home. Mrs. Zuelke and daughter, Pamela, went back with him to make their home.

School was closed on Monday, May 4th. The teachers assisted in the sugar rationing registration. A total of 309 applications were filled.

Commencement exercises for the Curtiss school will be held at the village hall on Tuesday evening, May 12th.

Eugene Laurent, Clark county supervising teacher, will be the speaker of the evening. Members of the class are Arthur Lokken, Jerome Michlig, Alfred, Telford and William Jakel. A school picnic will be held on Wednesday, May 13th.
