Stegeman, Adolph Sr. (14 OCT 1866 - 22 DEC 1939)

Funeral services were conducted from the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Parlors, Sunday afternoon at two o’clock for Adolph Stegeman Sr., 73, who passed away at his home Friday, Dec. 22, 1939.

The Rev. J.H. Rostad officiated at the service with interment being made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Adolph Stegeman had been ailing for the past several months from pleurisy and heart trouble. He was born on Oct. 14, 1866, in Hamburg, Germany, where he spent the first four years of his life before coming to America with his parents in 1870. The family settled in Chicago, where he attended school and then set himself up in the grocery business. Later he worked on a railway for several years before bringing his family to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) where they settled on a farm in May in the year 1906.

Adolph Stegeman was united in marriage to Miss Emma Rieckhoff on Aug. 19, 1899, in the city of Chicago. The couple had four children born to them. On daughter, Margaret, now deceased and three sons, Adolph Jr., Theodore and Fred, who are left to mourn his passing.

His departure from these earthly surroundings is missed by the immediate family and his many friends, but the thoughts of his no longer being with them are made more cheerful and lighter as they realized he is relieved of further suffering and now enjoys eternal happiness which we all look forward to.

Pallbearers at the services were August Slock, Raymond Slock, Bert Eberts, Andrew Olsen, Henry Mauel and Ernie Eberts.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral services were his son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Stegeman and son, Henry, and daughter, Lois, of Chicago; his niece, Mrs. Helen Dietz of Berwyn, Ill.; and another niece, Mrs. Lydia Flachsbarth of Forest Park, Ill.
