Hansen, Hans P. (18 FEB 1863 - 5 DEC 1939)

Hans Peter Hansen, a pioneer resident of this community, having lived here for 40 years on a farm north of the city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), passed away Tuesday, dec. 5, 1939, after being in ill health for the past year.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon from the J.P. Hansen home with the Rev. Jens A. Holst of the Danish Lutheran Church at Withee officiating.

Hans Peter Hansen was born on Feb. 18, 1863, at Hoiliupe, Denmark. Forty-three years ago he came to America with his mother and sister and brother, Niels. The family settled in Iowa, where he resided for three years. After that time he moved to the farm northeast of the city, where he took up residence with his brother, Jim, with whom he lived until the time of his passing on into eternity.

At the time of his calling he was 76 years, 9 months and 17 days old. He seemingly enjoyed every day of his life on this earth, being a good worker and a man of high qualities and character. Even the last year when his health was periled by his illness he was cheerful and happy despite his age and physical handicap.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his brother, Jim, and sister, Johanna (Mrs. Hans Madsen) of Owen, and his sister, Anne of Denmark, besides a host of relatives and friends.

His friends in the community extend their sympathy to his family and relatives in their time of sorrow.
