Wold, Orrin L. (February 2, 1918 - October 10, 2007)

Orrin L. Wold, 89, of Black River Falls died Wednesday evening, October 10, 2007, while under the care of Black River Hospice. He died in the same room in his home that he was born in February 2, 1918, to Ole D. and Ida (Nelson) Wold.

Orrin was raised in the town of Albion. He graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1936.

Orrin married Katharine Laffe in Humbird September 6, 1951.

The couple lived on the family farm until 1980 when they and Orrin’s brother David moved to their sister Hazel Field’s former residence at 23 Jefferson St., Black River Falls. They moved back to the farm in 2004.

Orrin was a dairy farmer and sold corn and small grain seed. He loved to hunt, fish, go dancing, shoot pool and play cards.

He was a lifelong member of the Little Norway Lutheran Church and was a past secretary for the Equity Altoona Livestock Market.

Surviving are his wife, Katharine; two sons, Gordon (Susan) Wold and John Wold, both of Black River Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hazel Field; and two brothers, David and Gorden Wold.

Memorial funeral services for Orrin L. Wold were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Little Norway Lutheran Church. Pastor Cal Thoreson officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends called at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), Black River Falls on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until the time of services at the church.

The family prefers memorials be given to either Black River Hospice or to the Little Norway Lutheran Church.
