Sommer, Herta (24 Feb. 1892 - 25 Nov. 1941)

Mrs. Theodore Sommer passed away at her home in the town of Green Grove, Wisconsin, Tuesday morning at 11:20, cancer being the cause of her departure to the distant shore. She had been ailing for several years. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. following short services at the Sommer home at 1:30. Internment will be made in the parish cemetery.

The deceased was born in the town of Green Grove on Feb. 24, 1892, thus reaching the age of 49 years, nine months and one day. Her maiden name was Herta Woik and she was married to Theo. Sommer in Green Grove in June, 1915.

Mrs. Sommer is survived by her husband and six children - Donald Sommer of Atwood, Mrs. Elmer Schuette of Riplinger, Mrs. Harley Hardrath of Owen, and Vernon, Marilyn and Marlyn at home; five brothers and three sisters - Arthur Sommer, Mrs. Richard Glenzer, Ernest Woik, Anton Woik, Paul Woik and Alvin Woik, all of Green Grove, and Mrs. John McLaughlin and Mrs. Frank Nedley of Milwaukee. Also three grand children.

The deceased was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church and the ladies’ aid of that congregation. She was a good Christian, a kind and loving wife and mother and always considered the welfare of her family above her own pleasures.

Funeral services for Mrs. Theo. Sommer, who died at her home on Tuesday forenoon, Nov. 25, were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home and at 2:00 o’clock at the St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery. During the services the hymns, "In the Garden of Prayer" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" were sung by Mrs. Theo. Miller, Miss Adeline Goetsch and Mr. Eric Schauer. The ladies’ aid society, of which Mrs. Theo. Sommer was a member, sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Pall bearers were Walter Laabs, Henry Schuh, Ralph Woik, Otto Sommer, Jr., Hans Hennlich, Sylvan Sommer, Victor Heschke, Roland Heschke. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Sylvan Sommer, Grayce Dietrich, Mrs. Adolph Stacke, Mrs. Otto Sommer, Jr., Mrs. Rubert Sommer, Miss Engenia Sommer, Miss Ethel Glenzer, Miss Vernetta Laabs.
