Marx, Geraldine (Marriage - 10 May 1941)

Miss Geraldine Marx, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Marx, and Mr. Merlin Wiegman, son of Mrs. Martha Rahn, were united in marriage at the First Evangelical and Reformed parish hall Saturday, May 10th, at 6:00 P.M., Rev. S. A. Schmiechen reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Carol Franz, a classmate of the bride, was maid of honor, and the Misses Arline Schuler and Eleanor Wiegman were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by the bride’s brother, Harvey Marx, and Elmer Meyers.

The altar was adorned with candles and large baskets of apple blossoms. Miss Wavaglee Pribnow played the bridal chorus from Lohengrin and Bernice Pachollke and Wavaglee Pribnow sang "I Love You Truly." The girls’ choir sang, "We Sail Along Toward the Harbor Light," a request of the bride.

The bride was attired in a becoming dress of white velveray chiffon over satin with fingertip silk illusion veil. Her bouquet consisted of calla lilies. The maid of honor wore a dress of pink sparkle velveray chiffon, sweetheart neckline, pink velvet ribbon trim with matching veil and her wrist corsage consisted of mixed flowers. Miss Schuler wore a dress of yellow sparkle velveray chiffon made similar to the maid of honor’s with matching veil. Her wrist corsage also consisted of mixed flowers. Miss Wiegman wore a dress of orchid sparkle velveray chiffon, similar to others, with a matching veil, and her wrist corsage also consisted of mixed flowers. The attendants’ dresses were all made alike and all wore a two-strand pearl necklace, a gift of the bride. The bride’s mother wore a navy sheer print with navy and white accessories. The groom’s mother wore a romance rose crepe dress with white accessories. For the bride’s going away outfit, she wore a navy blue redingote, with navy blue and white accessories.

A reception was held at the home of the bride for members of the immediate families. A large wedding cake and lighted candles on the table and apple blossoms adorned the room. In the evening, a wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion.

The young couple are on a wedding trip in the southern part of the state and will be at home after May 18th in the town of Colby where the groom is engaged in farming.
