Rodgers, Betty L. (12 JUN 1940)

Betty Louise Rodgers, daughter of Mr. Fred Rodgers of Greenwood, R 3 and Lawrence G. Cummings, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Cummings, Greenwood, were united in marriage at high noon, June 12th, in a double ring ceremony, by Rev. Alex J. Abbott at the Methodist Church in Greenwood. The bride was given away by her father.

The church was decorated with ferns, roses, snowballs and wild flowers. Lohengrin’s wedding march was played by the church organist, and Rev. Abbott’s twin daughters sang, "God Will Take Care Of You."

The bride was attired in a white satin ankle length gown trimmed with lace with long sleeves, and carried carnations, lilies and ferns.

She was attended by Miss Esther Hammer, cousin of the bride, Loyal, as maid of honor, who wore an aqua blue ankle length gown. Miss Georgia Mae Turner, Plainfield, cousin of the groom, acted as bridesmaid. She was attired in a pink ankle length gown with all white accessories. Both maid of honor and bridesmaid carried corsages of pink roses, snowballs and ferns.

Little Miss Betty Jane Hakes, cousin of the groom, dressed in white, was ring bearer. She carried the rings on a white lily.

The groom was attended by Duane Cummings, Greenwood, brother of the groom, and Winnie Turner, Plainfield, cousin of the groom.

After the ceremony dinner was served to forty-five guests at the home of the groom’s parents. The home was beautifully decorated with blue, pink and white streamers, and white wedding bells.

After a short trip the newlyweds will be at home near Greenwood where the groom has been engaged in farming, on the farm of his parents.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hakes, daughters Lorraine and Betty, Mrs. Jarvis Hakes, Dennis Nigh, Mr. and Mrs. Alvick Meddaugh and son Harvey, Mr. Frank Cummings and sons Bobby and Gerald, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Beggs, Mrs. George Nigh all of Bancroft, Wis.; Mrs. Ralph Anderson and son Raymond, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. George Turner, daughters Georgia Mae and Clarice and son Winnie, Plainfield.

The Tribune joins the many friends of the newlyweds in wishing them success and happiness.
