Wels, Adella #2 (1 JUN 1940)

At two o’clock Saturday, June 1, 1940 a very pretty wedding was solemnized when Miss Adella Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Wells of Greenwood, became the bride of Norbert Friske, son of Mrs. Otto Friske of Greenwood. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. C. Lanfholz at the Trinity Lutheran church at Loyal.

"Because" and "I Love You Truly" were sung by Mr. Roll Haure of Owen, Wis. accompanied on the organ by Mrs., George Jensen of Loyal.

The bride wore a net dress over satin, fashioned with a basque waistline and V neck. The draped bodice tapered gracefully into a full skirt designed with appliquéd bows, which ended in a graceful train. The gown trimmed with Alencon lace had full puffed sleeves. Her long tulle veil trimmed with lace was held in place by a coronet of lilies of the valley, forget me nots, and pink roses. Her necklace was three strands of pearls.

Miss Marguerite Wells, sister of the bride, attended as maid of honor in a gown of pink taffeta with a basque bodice and a net skirt with a scroll of silk cording. Her matching circular veil was held by a tiara of flowers in a matching pink shade. She wore a corsage of lilies of the valley, gladioli, and pompoms.

The bridesmaids Misses Bernice and Florence Friske, sisters of the groom, wore gowns of blue and peach respectively. Both dresses were made of mousseline de sole and velveray with shirred bodice and very full skirts. Their circular veils each matching the dress they wore were held in place by a tiara of matching flowers. Their corsages consisted of lilies of the valley, gladioli, and pompoms.

Donald Wells, Greenwood, the bride’s brother, attended as best man and Hershel Edwards, Mellen, as groomsman. The groom and his attendants wore dark blue suits with white accessories and had boutonnieres of white carnations. Ushers included Verland Dux, Loyal, and Jack Prestin, Milwaukee.

A dinner was served to approximately 50 guests at the home of the bride’s parents. Pink, blue, and white shades were used for the color scheme and large baskets of mixed flowers completed the decorations. A three tiered wedding cake with white icing and pink roses, topped by a miniature bride and groom, was used as the centerpiece for the dining table. In the evening a wedding dance was held at the Merry Ol’ Gardens, Longwood.

Among those present at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Prestin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Rear and family, and Mrs. Minnie Prestin, Milwaukee; Mr. William Drews, Howard Drews, and Mrs. Carl Schindler, Wilton; Miss Ann Drews and Mrs. Emil Drews, Rochester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ziemer and son, Norman, Galesville; William Dux, Arthur Dux, Mrs. Anna Dux, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Brown and family, and Miss Dorothy Lenzkow, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dux and Mr. and Mrs. Roll Haire, Owen; the Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Langholz and Verland Dux, Loyal; Mr. Hershel Edwards, Mellin, and Miss Bernice Friske, Mosinee.

The bride attended Greenwood High School and was graduated with the class of 1936. The couple are now at home to friends on the groom’s farm near Greenwood.
