Herman, Gladys #2 (7 MAY 1939)

Miss Gladys Herman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Herman of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and Floyd Hodd, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Hodd of Withee were united in marriage at the home of Mrs. Hodd, Sunday, May 7, 1939. The ceremony was performed by Rev. James Irish of Withee, Wis.

The young couple were attended by a sister of the bride, Rose Mary Herman and brother-in-law of the groom, Harold Bogue of Watseka, Ill. Little June Jannette Johnson, niece of the groom served as ring bearer.

The bride was attractively attired in a romance aqua satin floor length gown and three-quarter length white veil with matching accessories. She carried a bouquet of Jonquils and white carnations. The bridesmaid wore a lovely yellow satin gown.

The groom and best man wore suits of oxford gray.

The bower was appropriately decorated in white and blue, banked with ferns and flowers. Three delicate wedding bells were a part of the room decorations.

The couple marched to the strains of the bridal chorus from Lohengrin, played by Mrs. Dorothy Bogue, sister of the groom from Watseka, Ill.

A beautiful solo, "I Love You Truly," was sung by the groom’s sister, Miss Ethel Hodd, accompanied a the piano by Mrs. Dorothy Bogue.

A wedding supper was served at the groom’s home for the guests, which consisted of 45 friends and relatives. The table decorations were of blue and white and a beautiful wedding cake in blue and white served as the centerpiece.

After the wedding the bride and groom left on a short honeymoon which will be spent at Lake Wissota.

Out of town guests present were Mrs. Harold Johnson and children of Clinton; Mrs. Etta Martinson and children, Mrs. Theodore Mentges and Jay Bogue and daughter, Cecil, of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Taylor and son of Ladysmith; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Taylor and son of Conrath; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bombard and children of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Wisley Brett and children of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bogue of Watseka, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Herman and son and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Herman of Mt. Carrol, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Gamelcy and daughter of Detroit, Mich.
