Koerner, Selma #2 (19 OCT 1884 - 25 APR 1939)

Mrs. Ervin Koerner, age 54, passed away at the Owen, Wisconsin, Hospital on Tuesday, April 25, 1939, after a several months illness.

Mrs. Koerner, nee Selma Kind, was born in Wylie, Minn., on Oct. 19, 1884. She came to this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) in 1900 with her parents. In 1901 she was united in marriage to Charles Fakes of Green Grove. To this union were born eleven children, one son passed away in infancy; six daughter, namely, Mrs. C.S. Brough (Josephine) of San Rafael, Calif., Mrs. Adolph Erdman (Anna) of Dorchester, Wis., Mrs. Clarence Raddatz (Ida) of Milwaukee, Mrs. Matt Erling (Irene) of Westboro, Mrs. Herbert Free (Anita) of Cedarburg, Etta May Fakes of Milwaukee; four sons, Arthur Fakes of Green Grove, Walter and Raymond Fakes of Columbus, and Albert Fakes at home. Three step children, Clarence Koerner of Colby, Linda Koerner of Milwaukee, and Helen Koerner at home. Four sisters, Mrs. Richard Pohl of Curtiss, Mrs. Frank Kraut of Curtiss, Mrs. Emma Page of Chilton, Mrs. Lena Hartwig of Milwaukee; three brothers, Eddie Kind of New Holstein, Otto Kind of Greenwood and Adolph Kind of Curtiss, Wis. There are 13 grandchildren.

Her husband, Charles Fakes, passed away in July 1924, and she was married to Ervin Koerner in Aug. 1929, who survives. She lived on their farm in Green Grove until three years ago when the family moved into the village.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 29. Burial will be made in Green Grove Cemetery.
