Wilde, Erna (14 June 1907 - 17 Oct. 1942)

The sudden death of Mrs. George Wilde took place in a hospital at Fort Atkinson October 17, of embolism, after an operation of for appendicitis.

Mrs. Wilde was the former Miss Erna Schlinkert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schlinkert, of Neillsville, Wis. She was graduated from the Neillsville High School, working for a time in the office of George Ure, who at that time was clerk of the circuit court of Clark County, later being employed in the Neillsville bank.

She is survived by her husband and four children and by her parents and two brothers, William, Jr., and Clarence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Ft. Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Schlinkert being present for the rites.

Mr. and Mrs. William Schlinkert and sons, William, Jr., and Clarence, attended the funeral of their daughter and sister, Mrs. George A. Wilde, at Fort Atkinson, at nine a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 1942, the service being held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Edward Aumann officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery in that city. The pallbearers were: Joe and Frank Dietz, Lyman Jeffordsd, Russell Allen, Clarence Krause and Francis Hedrick.

Among the many other relatives and friends who attended the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schlinkert and John Pagenkopf, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Begley, Sparta; Mr. Wilde, Sr., two daughters and a son, and Mr. and Mrs. James Crowley, all of Milwaukee; Mrs. Tillie Lynch and Walter Lynch, Madison.

Mrs. Wilde (nee Erna Schlinkert) was 35 years, four months and three days of age. She was born June 14, 1907, in the town of Levis, Clark County, Wis., to William A. and Emma (Bieneck) Schlinkert. She was graduated from the Neillsville High School, after which she was engaged in clerical work in Neillsville, Milwaukee and Ft. Atkinson for a few years before her marriage to George A. Wilde, took place on Nov. 20, 1928. She was the mother of four children; Robert, 12; Virginia, 11; June 9, and Ellen, 6. She is survived by her parents and brothers.

Mrs. Wilde was a beautiful young woman, a brilliant student and a valuable executive. In her home, where her absence will be deeply felt by the grief-stricken husband and children, she was ideally loving and patient.
