Sterzinger, Lena H. (12 May 1932 - 20 Mar. 2004)

COLBY - Lena H. Sterzinger 71, Colby, died Saturday March 20, 2004 at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday March 24, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. John Malik will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jack Apfel, Dave Herman, Bryan Johnson, Jim Broeske, Bob Staszak, and Jason Johnson.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Community Funeral Home, Colby, with a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Lena was born May 12, 1932, in Rozellville to Peter and Rose (Andres) Weigel. She attended school in Rozellville and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School. Lena and William Sterzinger were married May 6, 1953, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Rozellville. He died November 18, 1981. Lena was a homemaker and worked for Colonial Center in Colby for a number of years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, reading and cooking. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, VFW Auxiliary, and Sandhill Homemakers Club.

Lena is survived by her children, Pete (Wanda) Sterzinger, Judy (Bob) Staszak, Wausau; Rose (Bryan) Johnson, Marshfield; Greg (Cheryl) Sterzinger, Colby; Bill (Heidi) Sterzinger, Colby; Janet (Jack) Apfel, Marshfield; Pat (Dave) Herman, Marshfield; Gary (Jan) Sterzinger, Marshfield; and Cheryl (Jim) Broeske, Colby; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred (Jerome) Wehe, Loyal; and Rosemary "Tootie" (Bob) Kaas, Marshfield, and one brother Peter (Sara) Weigel, Stratford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a daughter; a grandchild, two brothers and two sisters.
