Isabell "Issie" Nelson, 77, of Clintonville passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton.

The former Isabell Alvina Froeba was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Loyal, to the late Albert and Irene (Bauer) Froeba. She worked as a librarian and as a movie theater usher in Sheboygan. On Feb. 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to Roland M. Nelson at St. John the Baptist in Marshfield. The couple purchased Rexall Drug store in Wausau, where she functioned as bookkeeper until 1973. The following year the couple moved to Clintonville, where she worked at Brennan Air Freight as a secretary. In 1985, they relocated to Texas, where she was employed as a cashier at Kmart and later worked in admissions at the local hospital. Two years later, they returned to Clintonville and she worked at the hospital until her retirement in the early 1990s. Her husband, Roland, preceded her in death in 1987 after 31 years of marriage.

Issie was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church, in Clintonville, where she helped with funeral luncheons and various other activities. She enjoyed playing bridge and liked to volunteer at the food pantry. Issie also donated her time as a poll worker and with the draft board. While living in Wausau, she was very supportive of the activities at St. Anne's School.

Survivors include four children, Natalie (John) Ferris of Cedarburg, Michael (Karen) Nelson of Oneida, Thomas (Olga) Nelson of Morresville, N.C., and Paul (Chris) Nelson of Appleton. There are five grandchildren, Erin and Katie Ferris, and Jenny, Nikki and Ryan Nelson. There are two stepgranddaughters, Andra Reynolds and Angie Procopeck. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Paul (Marie) Froeba of Beloit, Bernice (Bud) Ruter of Racine, and Armella Kramer and Ed Froeba, both of Wausau. Isabell was further survived by many other relatives and friends. Issie was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Alice Mittermiller and Tina Bohman; and one brother, Norman "Butch" Froeba.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. The Rev. C. Terrance LaCombe will officiate. Entombment will follow at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday at the church.
