Schmitt, Francis H. (4 Oct. 1948 - 3 Sept. 2004)

Francis H. "Frank" Schmitt, age 55, of 310 S. Palmetto Ave., died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield, where he was admitted on Aug. 28, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2004, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank L. Pacard will officiate. The family requests no visitation.

Frank was born on Oct. 4, 1948, in Unity, the son of Henry and Frances (Kraus) Schmitt. He attended Marshfield schools. He married JoAnne Hainzlsperger and they later divorced. He later married Bonnie Jacob on Jan. 29, 1988, in Marshfield. He had been employed at Weyerhaeuser Co. and Figi's, and lastly at Karau's IGA until his retirement due to ill health. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; a son, Brian Schmitt of Marshfield; and his mother, Frances Sternitzky of Marshfield. He is also survived by four stepdaughters, Tammy Hainzlsperger of Yuba City, Calif., Robin (Randy) Geatz of Spencer, Teresa (Mark) Frisch of Spencer, and Angela Bahling of Stevens Point and a stepson Shawn (Angela) Yeske of Spencer; and 12 grandchildren. He is further survived by six sisters, Loretta Stendel of Marshfield, Anita (Phillip) Hendrickson of Beloit, Delores (Don) O'Brien of Beloit, Judy (Vernon) Steinbach of Lodi, Ann (Jack) Strassburg of Marybelle and Georgia (Paul) Weiler of Granton; by two brothers, Gary Stendel of Chili and Roger (Linda) Sternitzky of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and his best friend, Howard Yeske.
