McLean, Douglas F. (25 June 1932 - 22 Mar. 2005)

Douglas McLean, 72, of Brownsville, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn, Ala.

Douglas was born on June 25, 1932, in Granton, Wis., to Fearne and Evelyn (Preston) McLean. He was united in marriage to Dorothy McClain on his birthday, June 25, 1955.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Douglas received his Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin and taught at Oakfield High School for 37 years. He was a member of the Oakfield United Methodist Church. Douglas was dedicated to his family, friends, and students. He held a deep appreciation for nature, culture and his loved ones, subjects often expressed through his pastimes of writing, painting and photography.

Douglas is survived by Dorothy, his beloved wife of nearly 50 years; two sons, Preston (Ruth) McLean of Auburn, Ala., and Brian (Jackie) McLean of Lamartine, Wis.; four grandchildren, Jacob, Michael, Erin and Matthew; one brother, Marshall (Anne Marie) McLean of Waupun; one sister, Jill (Ernie) Vande Berg of Melbourne, Fla.; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents.

Services: A memorial service and celebration of his life will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 220 S. Main Street, Oakfield, with the Rev. Nancy Green officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow the service. Inurnment will take place at 3 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
