Hermanson, Martha (Marriage - 26 Dec. 1939)

Miss Martha Hermanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Hermanson, Curtiss, and Harold Laabs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Laabs, Curtiss, were married Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Norwegian Lutheran church, Curtiss, the Rev. W. L. Anderson officiating at the nuptials.

The bride wore a slate blue street dress with black accessories, a gold headband and small veil, and carried a bouquet of blue orchids.

Her maid of honor, Miss Mary Thompson, wore a dubonnet street dress with black accessories and carried a bouquet of white gardenias. Fredric Laabs was best man.

During the marriage service John Erickson sang "I Love You Truly," and Miss Ruth Thomsen played, "The Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin.

After the ceremony a 5 o’clock supper was served to the immediate family at the home of the bride’s parents. The couple gave a wedding dance at the Curtiss hall in the evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Laabs will make a two weeeks’ tour of the Southern states. Mrs. Laabs graduated from the Owen High School in 1937 and from River Falls State Teachers College in 1939 and taught school at Sunnyside School, near Loyal, for the past school year.

The groom attended Abbotsford, Wis. High School and Wentworth Military Academy at Lexington, Mo., and is now engaged as a cheesemaker at the Laabs Co.

Out of town guests who attended the wedding were Henry Hermanson, Berkert, Ind., Glen Laabs, Sullivan, Ind., Herman Laabs, of Blackwell, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Pease, Lyle Tullis, and Edgar Tullis, Madison.
