Naedler, William (21 Feb. 1866 - 1 Sept. 1942)

William Naedler, a resident of the Neillsville community for 42 years, passed away Tuesday, September 1, at the age of 76. He died at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, following a fall, which resulted in broken bones with complication of pneumonia.

Mr. Naedler was born February 21, 1866, in Germany, his parents being John and Sophie Naedler. He came to the United States with his parents at the age of six. He was married to Margaret Geyer at Jefferson, Wis., March 31, 1888, and resided in that vicinity until October, 1900, when he came to Clark County and purchased the Hilliar farm, south of Neillsville, adding to it part of the old Clark farm the following spring.

Mr. Naedler was a dairy farmer, breeding a fine type of cattle. He also engaged extensively in bee keeping. He was an active worker in St. John’s Lutheran church, serving many years as president of the congregation. He also served several years as chairman of the town of Pine Valley, and was town treasurer a number of terms.

Mr. and Mrs. Naedler celebrated their golden wedding in 1938. Their five children are living, Henry, mayor of Neillsville; Louise, Mrs. A. C. Haack, Wauwatosa; Edwin, St. Paul; William, Jr., Granton; Hilbert, south of Neillsville, Wis. There are twelve grandchildren. Mr. Naedler is also survived by a brother, John, Helenville, Wis.; and by four sisters: Mrs. Fred Wendorf, Milton; Mrs. Freda Ott, Los Angeles; Mrs. Albert Doering, Waterloo, Wis.; Mrs. Peter Anderson, Janesville. One sister, Mrs. J. Shannon Beloit, preceded him in death.

The funeral services will be held Friday, at the home at 1:30 and at St. John’s Church at 2, with the pastor, the Rev. William A. Baumann officiating, Interment will **Rest cut off. **
