Brown, Henry Andrew (January 25, 1927 - September 19, 2007)

Henry Andrew Brown, age 80, retired truck driver for Ritchie Paving, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 19, 2007.

He was born Sunday January 25, 1927 in California, MO to Gabriel Washington and Serelda Elizabeth (Hill) Brown. Henry attended elementary school in California, MO until his family moved to McGirk, MO.

At the age of 16 he enlisted in the U. S. Armed forces from June of 1943 to 1946 during World War II. After his duty in the Army, Henry went to work for the lumber company and then on to the Frisco railroad. He met his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Meta (Tresemer), while on duty in Highland park, Illinois. They were married on August 8, 1947. They lived in Springfield, MO before later moving to Sedgwick, KS. Henry went to work for Ritchie Paving. He drove an End Dump, loving his work and always wanting to drive over the road.

Henry is survived by his spouse, Evelyn Brown; five children; Gary and Vicki Brown, Sedgwick; Carol and Mike Stone, Hoover, AL; Linda and Kenny Johnson, Wichita; Rick and Peggy Brown, Sedgwick; Randy and Debbie Brown, Sedgwick; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Jamie Brown and Jason Stone; brothers, Louis, Monroe, Richard, Aubery, Lawrence, Albert and Kennis Brown.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 24, 2007 at the United Methodist Church, Sedgwick, KS. Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center, KS, assisted the family with arrangements.
