Duellman, Mary (10 Dec. 1880 - 23 Dec. 1937)

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Duellman, who died at the Marshfield hospital last Thursday morning at 10:45 o’clock at the age of fifty-seven years from complications resulting from a gall bladder operation, were held at 9:30 o’clock Monday morning at St. Bernard’s Catholic church at Abbotsford, Wisconsin, Rev. C. H. Brady officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Frank Sterzinger, Peter Gries, Francis Weise, John Keifer, Robert Gierl and H. Vandehey.

Mrs. Duellman, whose maiden name was Mary Thorn, was born December 10th, 1880, at St. Lawrence, near Milwaukee. She was married to Henry Duellman there on Nov. 22, 1904. After their marriage, they resided at Marshfield for a number of years and moved onto a farm in the town of Colby in 1916. Two years ago they moved to the village of Abbotsford, Wis. Mrs. Duellman was an active member of the Abbotsford Catholic church, was a member of the Ladies’ Aid, Catholic Foresters and Christian Mothers’ Society. She had a friendly and gentle disposition and made friends with everybody. Her untimely departure will be sadly missed by a host of friends besides members of her family and relatives.

Surviving besides her husband are nine children, namely: Mrs. Ernest Gierl of Colby, Mrs. Oscar Seidel and Armand Duellman of Abbotsford, Mrs. Leonard Beissel of Bessemer, and Matt, Frank, Dorothy, Edward and Paul at home. Also ten grand children, five sisters and one brother - Mrs. Wm. Piel, Mrs. Ray Rifenburg and Mrs. Herman Glass of Milwaukee, Mrs. Henry Bauers of Fountain City, Mrs. John Brill of Cherokee and Mr. Matt Thorn of Winona, Minn.

Out of town people here for the funeral services were Mrs. Henry Bauers, Jr., Fred Schettler, Mrs. Cora Duellman, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Duellman, John Duellman, Daniel Piel and Mr. and Mrs. B. Duellman, all of Fountain City, Mr. and Mrs. Math Thorn and son, Herman, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Thorn, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Duellman and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Redig, all of Winona, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Redig of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Marie Wesley, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Redig, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Redig, Mr. and Mrs. Math Thorn, Mrs. K. Olsinski, all of Marshfield, Mrs. Herman Glass, Mrs. Wm. Piel, Miss Estelle Thorn, Mrs. Ray Rifenburg, all of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. John Elsinger and John Weiss and daughter of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. L. Biessel of Bessemer, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Al Kaiser and son of Stratford and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bauers of Thorp.
