Seidel, John H. (11 July 1861 - 24 Dec. 1937)

Funeral services were held at Unity, Wisconsin, Monday morning for John H. Seidel, age 76, well known resident of Unity, who died at his home in that village at midnight on Christmas eve as the result of a paralytic stroke he had suffered ten days previously.

The Rev. Harry Lee, pastor of the Methodist-Episcopal church, and the Rev. J. A. Olson, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, officiated at the rites, which were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday from the Methodist-Episcopal church. Monday afternoon the body was taken to the home of his son at Fond du Lac, where rites were held Wednesday afternoon and burial took place in Forest cemetery.

Born in Fond du Lac county on July 11, 1861, Mr. Seidel grew to manhood and spent the greatest share of his life in that vicinity. His marriage to Miss Anna Oldenburg, who survives him, took place on Feb. 18, 1892.

For 28 years Mr. Seibel operated a farm near Fond du Lac, and for two years he was in the farm implement business. Since 1920 he has been operating a large farm three miles east of Unity, although he and Mrs. Seibel have resided in the village the majority of the time. Mr. Seibel held town and school board offices at various times, and was a member of the Methodist-Episcopal church his entire life.

Surviving besides his widow of Unity, are one son, Arthur H. Seibel, and four grandchildren, John, Robert, Arthur, Jr., and Ann Carolyn Seibel, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Pfeifer and Mrs. Agnes Mueller and three brothers, George, Lewis, and Jacob Seibel, all of Fond du Lac.
