Scheuermann, Alois #2 (9 MAR 1861 - 19 MAR 1938)

Alois Scheuermann succumbed Saturday, Mar. 19, 1938, at 12:05 at the Legault Hospital after a short illness of pneumonia.

He was born at Baden, Germany and reached the age of 76 years and 10 days. He came with his parents to this country at the age of 17, making his home at Rock Island, Ill. On Oct. 22, 1887 he was united in marriage to Barbara Betzel. In 1908 he moved with his family to Clark County, Wis., purchasing 240 acres of timberland in the town of Longwood, which with his never tiring ability and cooperating help, although in ill health, he made it one of the finest farms in this section.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn, two sons and two daughters: John of the town of Longwood, Charles at home, Mrs. Ed Poppe (Mabel) of Longwood and Elsie of St. Paul, Minn. A daughter, Mrs. Anton Welsch (Amelia), and a son, Edward, preceded him in death. There are also eight grandchildren and one brother and sister to mourn his loss.

Rosary services were held at the Griebenow Funeral Home at 9:15 Tuesday morning and funeral services were conducted at 9:30 from Holy Rosary Church at Owen with Rev. C.D. Brady officiating. A solo, "The Panis Angelicus" was sung to his memory by his daughter Elsie. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Scheuermann, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dasso, of Rock Island, Ill., Joseph Mier, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mier and Mrs. Albert Vahuske and son, all of Jackson, Minn.

Pallbearers were Wm. Alperstad, Ed Braun, Herman Damerow, Gus Horn, Peter Korleck and Jake Speich.
