Scheel, Helen Alma (26 Dec. 1898 - 24 Aug. 1937)

Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Scheel, who passed away as the result of a heart ailment at the Marshfield hospital at the age of thirty-eight years, were held Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at her home and then at Colby at the former Reformed church building, Mr. F. W. Petran of Juneau officiating. Pall bearers were William Schuldauser, Roland Scheel, Ralph Scheel, Louis Hardrath, Herman Smith and Walter Hake. Those in charge of the flowers were Betty Marthell, Ellain Scheel, Jeanette Frederickson, Marcella Keller, Gertrude Gosse, Yvonne Schulhauser and Marie Hake.

Helen Alma Hake Scheel was born in Manitowoc county Wisconsin, Dec. 26, 1898. At four years of age she moved with her parents on a farm in Green Grove township and there grew into young womanhood. On Nov. 17, 1921, she was united in marriage with Frank Scheel, also of Green Grove township. In 1927 she moved with her husband and family onto a farm in the town of Colby which was her present home. On Aug. 22, 1937, she was stricken with a heart attack which resulted in death on August 24th.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Scheel of Curtiss, three children, Glenn, age twelve, Grace, age nine and Ronald, age six, her mother, Mrs. Ernestine Hake of Curtiss, one brother, Walter S. Hake of Curtiss, two sisters, Mrs. Edith Smith of Minneapolis and Mrs. Louis Scheel of Spencer. Also a number of nieces and nephews.

Many sleep, but not forever –

In the lone and silent grave

Blessed promise. They shall waken.

Jesus died the lost to save,

In the dawning of the morning,

When this troubled night is o’er.

All these buds, in beauty blooming,

We’ll rejoice to see once more.
