Brill, Katherine (15 Oct. 1859 - 5 Dec. 1936)

Mrs. William J. Brill passed away at her home in the town of Hull Saturday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock. Her death was attributed to complications and from an injury she sustained twenty-four years ago when she fell down a flight of stairs and fractured her spine. After being in the hospital for nearly three months, she was able to be out and around until the past two and a half years when she was confined to her bed. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Wednesday morning, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating and internment was made in the Colby Catholic cemetery. The pall bearers were Henry Huber, Harry Harter, Max Heintz, William Yost, Ray Berg and Melvin Guenther. Flower girls were Helen Yost, Marie Brill and Mary Ann Brill.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Katherine Hennes, was born near Richfield, Waukesha county, October 15, 1859, where she was married to William J. Brill on October 17th, 1882. Two weeks after their marriage, they moved to the town of Hull which has been their home since. She reached the age of seventy-seven years, one month and twenty days and lived in the town of Hull for fifty-four years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons, Joseph Brill of Menomonee Falls, Matthew Brill of Marathon and Theodore, William and John Brill of the town of Hull. Also two brothers and a sister, Theodore Hennes of Richfield, Matt Hennes of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Cecelia Wolfe of Richfield, and twenty-eight grandchildren. Two children, Edward and Lillian, preceded their mother in death.

The deceased was a good Christian and the mother of a large and gifted family, some of whom now have "silver threads among the gold." Like all our early settlers, she was of a hospitable and congenial disposition. None ever entered her home without a warm welcome nor left without feeling the warmth of a genuine hospitality, so characteristic of the people of her ancestry.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Joe Brill of Menomonee Falls, Theodore Hennes, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wolfe and son, Mrs. Albert Schulties, all of Richfield, Matthew Brill and family of Marathon City, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hennes and Mrs. John Brill from Rozellville, Wis., John and Theodore Hennes of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Krautcramer of Marathon City.
