Weiland, Herman C. (8 Dec. 1880 - 9 July 1936)

Herman C. Weiland, trustee of the village of Unity and field man for the Libby, McNeil & Libby canning factory in Colby, died of heart trouble and aggravated heat at 5:30 last Thursday at the Colby clinic. Mr. Weiland was working near Edgar Thursday afternoon when he became ill. He started for the clinic in his car, stopping several times on the way because he felt ill. He died within a few minutes after he reached the clinic. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran church at Unity, Rev. J. A. Olson officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased reached the age of fifty-five years. He was born in Germany December 8, 1880, and emigrated to Milwaukee in 1882. He later located on a farm near Unity and was married in Unity to Miss Mary Ewald, August 3, 1904. They remained on the farm until eight years ago when they became residents of Unity. Mr. Weiland was a member of Trinity church since 1921, was a member of the first board of trustees of that organization and was its financial secretary at the time of his death.

He is survived by his widow; his father, Charles Weiland, who resides in the state of Oregon; three brothers and four sisters, Charles Weiland and Mrs. Mary Hopp of the state of Oregon, Mrs. Minnie Lueloff, Dodgeville, Mrs. Anna Welman, Kenosha, and Albert and Walter Weiland and Mrs. Bertha Johnson, Unity.
