Schneider, Ernest (20 JAN 1854 - 29 JUN 1938)

Rev. Carl Berry conducted funeral services at the Bogumill Funeral Home at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon for Ernest Schneider, an aged citizen of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) who died at his home here on Sunday, June 29th, 1938. He had reached the ripe old age of 84 years, 4 months and 29 days.

Mr. Schneider worked at his trade of harness maker up to the time of his sickness about two months ago. He had followed this vocation for seventy-three years, coming to Thorp in 1906. He also operated a store and hotel during the intervening years.

The deceased was born in Pipe Village near New Holstein, Wis., on Jan. 20, 1854. He was married to Emma Borgenquast at New Holstein sixty-four years ago. They resided at Chilton, Calumet Co, Reedsville and Friendship during the following twenty-seven years before locating in Thorp.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma Schneider, one son, Magnus Schneider of Thorp, and one daughter, Mrs. Elfreida Sarff, Milwaukee, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery near Black River. Pallbearers were Albert, Herman, Ernest, William and George Rau, and Henry Kiehl.
