Tennis, Edna (5 Apr. 1901 - 3 Apr. 1998)

Unity, Wis. - Edna Tennis, 97, Unity, died April 3, 1998, at St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity with the Rev. John Clasen officiating.

Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons-in-law, Jerry Michlig, Dennis Engevold, Russ Bedroske, Bob Michlig, Greg Geiger and Ron Wilbur.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Community Funeral Home in Colby and again from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Edna was born April 5, 1901, in Dorchester, to Gustav and Minnie (nee Daeke) Laack. She attended Dorchester area school. Edna and Melvin Tennis were married and he preceded her in death. She was a cook for the Unity Grade School for 30 years and Redwood Supper Club.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Unity Senior Citizens.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Leon) Jost of Unity and Janice (Erland) Shelley, also of Unity; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Leona Mandel of Abbotsford, Wis. Edna is also survived by her Bingo Bunch.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Jerome; two brothers; and four sisters.
