Funeral services for Jacob H. Dessloch, who died of apoplexy Wednesday, February 19th, after four weeks of illness, were held at St. John’s Evangelical church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M., Rev. E. Becker and Rev. H. K. Hartmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Louis Sachse, H. A. Krepsky, Paul Draeger, Ed. Zillmann, E. D. Loos, and H. A. Senkbeil. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. E. Zillmann, Mrs. Oscar Dix, Mrs. Wm. Pacholke and Mrs. O. Davis.

The deceased was born in the town of Rhine, Sheboygan county, Aug. 28, 1874, thus reaching the age of sixty-one years, five months, and nineteen days. He was married to Miss Anna Gessert on April 16th, 1890, in the town of Rhine, Sheboygan county. They moved to Clark county directly after their marriage and operated a farm near Loyal until 1920 when they came to Colby, and, during their residence in this city, Mr. Dessloch served as assistant funeral director at the F. W. Lulloff funeral home and undertaking parlors.

Surviving are his widow and three children - N. L. Dessloch of Colby, Mrs. L. A. Hintz of Oshkosh and Dr. Eli M. Dessloch of Oakland, Calif. Also three brothers and two sisters - Lewis Dessloch of Elkhart Lake, Wis., Mrs. Kate Ritter of Sheboygan, Mrs. Julia Kuhn of Elkhart Lake, Val. Dessloch of Port Washington, Wis., Dr. John C. Dessloch of Rochester, N.Y.

The deceased was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father; to his friends the soul of fellowship. He was a devoted member of St. John’s Evangelical church and always, under all circumstances, walked the well beaten path of righteousness. It was the writer’s good fortune to have known him long and well and we only knew him to esteem him more highly as the years passed by. We too, will miss his kindly smile and friendly greeting.
