Michaelis, Elizabeth (Nov. 1855 - May 1935)

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Michaelis, whose death was reported last week, were held at St. John’s church Sunday afternoon, Rev. E. Becker officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were John Brill, Paul Draeger, Fred Dix, E. D. Loos, Alphons Bauers and Gust Franz.

The deceased was born in Germany and died of senile exhaustion at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 12 days. Her first marriage was to Aug. Weichert, a cigar maker, and both were pioneer citizens of Colby. After his death she married Paul Michaelis, a cigar maker also, who died several years ago. After his death, she conducted a confectionery store in Colby until poor health forced her to give it up. Two nieces and a nephew survive and are Mrs. Louis Boehm of Colby, Mrs. Gust Uhlig of Dorchester and Fred Gehring of Lawrence, Mass.
