Petersen, Agnes (Mogensen) (07 Oct 1916 - 04 Aug 2007)

Agnes Petersen, 90, Withee, died Saturday, August 4th, 2007, at Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, Wis.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 8th, at 11 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee with the Reverends Terry Blomberg and Richard Sorenson presiding.

Pallbearers were Alan Zelm, Juan Geracaris, Bernard Rusch, William Benzschawel, Arlyn Mills, Thomas Gehrke, Gary Petersen and Eugene Himes.

Honorary pallbearers were Arthur and Waverly Jarvis, Ray and Elaine Pszeniczny, George and Joan Sorensen, Charles and Ilene Pribbernow, Walter and Phyllis Clay and Roy and Lynn VanWinkle.

Flower girls were Mildred Ericksmoen, Mary Katherine Jensen, Lillian Miller,Vi Jalling, Mayme Zelm, Sylvia Petersen, Bernelda Karlen and Julie Tieman.

Agnes was born October 7th, 1916, in Withee to Theodore and Marie (Hansen)Mogensen. She attended the local Danish grade school in Withee and graduated from Withee High School.

She married Jim Petersen on February 28th, 1935. Agnes and Jim lived in Chicago until the spring of 1943 and moved back to central Wisconsin where they purchased a dairy farm East of Longwood and farmed for 36 years.

After Jim's death on December 10th, 1989, Agnes moved to Withee. She continued traveling and visited New Zealand, Australia, Israel and Alaska.

Agnes was a long time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood. She also actively supported local youth activities by sponsoring children to attend summer camps and establishing scholarship fund for Owen-Withee High School graduates. Agnes was a favorite among residents at the Care Center for her volunteer work.

In 1996, she sold Badger Precision, a company her husband had bought in the 1960's.

When she was not traveling, Agnes enjoyed playing cards and trips to the Wisconsin casinos.

Agnes is survived by her son Donald (Sheila) Petersen; her daughter Bonnie(Robert) Segerstrom; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; siblings, Harry Mogensen, Ellen Tomich, Gerda Vaitonis and Rigmore Steffens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Ministry Home Care Hospice, Clark County Humane Society, Longwood Emmanuel Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
