He was taken sick a week before, and suffered much until his death. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the G.A.R. hall under the auspices of the Post, with the G.A.R. ritual, and a few remarks by Rev. A.B. Scoville, himself a brother veteran.

He enlisted in the war for the Union when quite young and served in Co. E. 1st Minn., heavy artillery. After the war he attended Hanneman Homeopathic Medical College at Chicago, later practiced medicine at Green Bay, Wis., Joliet, Ill., and other places, and took up dentistry at Sheboygan Falls, along with his medical practice moved to Neillsville fifteen years ago, devoting all his time to dentistry. He had held posts of trust at Green Bay and Sheboygan Falls, was an Odd Fellow at Sheboygan Falls, and since his residence here has been, besides a member of the G.A.R. Post, alderman, supervisor, Soldier’s relief commissioner, and was at the time of his death a member of the county board committee to investigate as to the feasibility of establishing a County Insane Asylum.

He was married to Alma C. Pitcher, July 26, 1871, at Fond du Lac, who with her son Leslie, survives him. He leaves also two sisters, Mrs. Kate Thessen and Mrs. Rowley, both of Oshkosh, both of whom are ill and were unable to be here to the funeral. Mrs. Pitcher’s brother, S.D. Pitcher of Oshkosh and his wife were over here, returning home Tuesday.
