Jerome R. Bauer (May 15, 1935 - July 12, 2007)

Jerome R. Bauer, age 72, of 1624 S. Central Ave., No. 117, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at home under the care of Hospice Home Care with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, at Christ The King Parish, Spencer. The Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate.

Burial will be at West Spencer Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Jordan Bauer and Justin and Phillip Korth. Pallbearers will be nephews, Joel and David Weber, Fred and Mark Fischer, Craig Bauer, Jay Nelson, Bob Pastor and Dick Voelker.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Spencer Community Funeral Home and until 10 a.m. prior to the service on Monday.

Jerome was born May 15, 1935, in Loyal to Oscar and Laura (Litka) Bauer. The family moved to the Spencer area on a farm in 1944.

In 1956, Jerome married Iris Voelker. They lived on the farm and purchased it in 1967 from his parents and resided there until June 1, 2007. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in August, 2006. Upon retirement Jerome enjoyed reupholstering and also taught reupholstery classes for North Central Technical College (NTC). He also enjoyed yard work and landscaping, which was his passion. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone.

Jerome was a member of Christ The King Parish and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for 53 years.

He is survived by his wife, Iris; three children, Dirk (Debbie) Bauer of Stratford, Dena (Mark) Korth of Marshfield, and Douglas Bauer of Madison; grandsons, Jordan Bauer, Justin and Phillip Korth. He is further survived by one sister, Bernadine (Joe) Weber of Marshfield; one brother, Alan (Carol) Bauer of Spencer; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Nelson, Madison; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Fischer, Spencer; many relatives and friends. Jerome is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Dorothy Fischer; and a brother-in-law, Russ Nelson.

The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Khan, the Oncology staff and the dedicated people from Hospice Home Care for their kindness and concern for Jerome.

Memorials may be given to Hospice Home Care.

On my journey

I have walked many miles

and have seen wondrous things

But now I am weary

Let me rest in your arms and

be comforted by the

gentleness of your touch

while I travel the road home.
