Fritsche, Veronica (16 JAN 1858 - 15 OCT 1935)

Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) friends were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Veronica Fritsche, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.C. Ludwig in the town of Little Black (Taylor Co., Wis.) Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock after a short illness. Death was due to hernia and complications.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Stetsonville this Friday morning at 10 o’clock with the River Father J.A. Seeboth officiating. Interment will be made at the Stetsonville Cemetery with six of her grandsons, Raymond and Franklin Ludwig, Dennis and Thomas Murphy, and Franklin and Gilbert Fritsche acting as pallbearers.

Veronica Peissig was born in Austria Jan. 16, 1858, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Peissig, and was 77 years, 8 months and 29 days at time of death. She grew to womanhood there and in 1879 she was united in marriage to Joe Fritsche in Bohemia. In 1883 they came to the United States and lived on their farm northwest of Dorchester, where Mr. Fritsche passed away in 1926. One son and one daughter also preceded Mrs. Fritsche in death.

Mrs. Fritsche leaves six children to mourn her loss, two daughters, Mrs. D.W. Murphy, nee Josephine, of Madison, and Mrs. A.C. Ludwig, nee Anna, and four sons, Joe, Ruben, Frank and Herman, all of Dorchester country. She also leaves ? grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

For those who knew her, Mrs. Fritsche was a sweet, lovable lady who endeared herself to them by her acts of kindly thoughtfulness. She was one of the pioneers in this territory. Mrs. Fritsche was also a pioneer church worker and was a member of Sacred Heart congregation since her arrival here in 1883. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers. Through these organizations and her own personality she surrounded herself with a host of friends who join us in offering sincere sympathy to her children and grandchildren in their loss.
