Bauer, Catherine (10 JAN 1874 - 23 MAY 1939)

Mrs. Frank Bauer, 65, died near midnight Tuesday night, May 23, following a two year illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Aloys Zinthefer officiating. Burial was made in the local Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Bauer, nee Catherine Beaver, daughter of the late John and Mary Beaver, was born in Jefferson County Jan 10, 1874. When still a small child she came to Clark County with her parents, who purchased a farm in the Town of Loyal, 4 miles south of the village.

She lived there until her marriage to Frank Bauer Sept. 27, 1891. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Bauer to a farm one and one-fourth miles from the Beaver homestead. About 10 years ago they moved to the village of Loyal.

Mrs. Bauer, the second in the family of 19 children, is survived by her husband, six sons, Paul, Roland, Oscar, Lawrence, and Franklin Bauer, Loyal and Edwin Bauer Bakerville; and five daughters, Mrs. Axel (Fraces) Helm, Mrs. Albert (Irene) Froeba, and Mrs. Clarence (Loretta) Froeba, all of Loyal. Mrs. Ernest (Rosalie) Renz, Lake Mills; and Mrs. Roman Renz, Cambridge. The six sons acted as pallbearers.

Six granddaughters acted as flower girls. They were Valeria Bauer, of Bakerville and Delores Helm, Alice Froeba, Phyllis Bauer, Virginia Bauer, and Dorothy Bauer. Mrs. Bauer is survived by 53 grandchildren.

Also surviving are eight brothers, George Beaver, Granton; and William, Edward, Mike, Nick, Matt, Phillip, and Bernard Beaver, all of Loyal; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Susie) Wedl, Loyal, and Mrs. Peter (Bertha) Schmidt, Los Angeles, Calif.

A sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Duval, Marshfield, died May 3 of this year, and a brother Frank Beaver died in February of this year.

Mrs. Bauer’s chief interests in life were her church, her family, and her home. The large crowd that attended her funeral proved the place of love and respect she had made for herself in the hearts of those who knew her.

Beaver, Granton; Mrs. John Schmidt, Miss Sophia Schmidt, Frank and George Schmidt, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schmidt, Mr. Wm. Schmidt, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Weber, Hilbert; <r. and Mrs. L. A. Freech, Augusta; Mrs. Anna Liethen, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gallum, Milwaukee; Mrs., Barbara Fletcher, Green Bay; the Misses Helen and Evelyn Duval, ans Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Krier, Marshfield, also her children who live out of town.
