Hoffman, Elmer H. (25 Apr. 1913 - 10 June 2007)

COLBY -- Elmer H. Hoffman, age 94, of Colby, died on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at his home in the town of Frankfort, Clark County.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, town of Cleveland, Marathon County. The Rev. Kenneth Dix will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Neil, Dean, and Randall Hoffman, Roger Loper, Klayton Hoffman and Kerry Hoffman. Burial will take place at 9 a.m. in Estabrooks Cemetery in Fond du Lac on Friday, June 15.

The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Elmer was born on April 25, 1913, in the town of Cleveland, Marathon County, to Herman and Lida (Hagen) Hoffman. As a young man he had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in northern Wisconsin. He had been a tool and die maker.

He was a proud member of the Colby Lions Club and the Colby United Church of Christ.

He married Uldine Martin on Aug. 31, 2003, and she survives. He is also survived by four children, Sharon (Roger) Loper of Crossville, Tenn., Neil (Janet) Hoffman of Lac du Flambeau, Dean (Birgit) Hoffman of Cookeville, Tenn., and Randall (Donna) Hoffman of Sullivan. He is further survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; by a sister, Leonora Leffel of Stratford; and two brothers, Herman William (Gloria) Hoffman of Rhinelander and Lyle Wayne (Marlene) Hoffman of Stratford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend, Carol Smith.

He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Deanna Loper; two grandchildren; four brothers and five sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in his name to Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
