Volovsek, Stanley J. #2 (11 DEC 1920 - 15 MAY 2007)

Stanley J. Volovsek, 86, Willard, died at the Clark County Care Center, Owen, on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Kurt Volovsek, Ed Volovsek, Roger Volovsek Vic Staut, Tim Gall, and Bill Snedic. Honorary pallbearers were Ron, Larry, Jim, Josh, Matt and Aaron Prokopec. And Tom and Jason Dendinger.

Stanley John Volovsek was born on Dec. 11, 1920, in Genesse Depot, to Frank and Anna (nee Flis) Volovsek. He moved to the Willard area, with his parents and siblings, in October of 1928. His early tears were spent farming and helping his father do carpentry work. He attended country school, including Rocky Run, and loved to tell stories about how he "almost burned down the school forest." He married Olga Volarich on June 10, 1944, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. He farmed with his father-in-law for two years and then went into business for himself, starting :"Stanley’s Cabinet Shop" in 1946. He built homes and kitchen cabinet sets for many years with the help of his "crew" that included many talented individuals. Throughout these years there will always be remembered the numerous "shop parties" that lasted well into the morning hours. Along with building cabinets, he also built a family that included three children. He later divorced in1976. He married Mary Hribar-Crotzer on Sept. 16, 1977. She died on Jan. 27, 1995. On Dec. 13, 1997, he married Darlene (nee Cada) Prokopee. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved polka music. He never really retired, because he continued to build things, including hunting Shanties for others to enjoy, and continued to "tinker" in the workshop until he could no longer do so. He entered the Clark County Health Care Center in July 2006, and enjoyed watching the reaction of others to his wood "creations" and his moose head, and telling stories about his hunting and fishing trips to Canada and Alaska. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, Clarkson, Neb.; three children, LaVern (Sharon) Volovsek, Rice Lake, Jack (Sue) Volovsek, Wausau, and Peggy (Ed) Yurkovich, Willard; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Andy) Hable, Jodi (Jeff) Arrowhead, Sara (Brendan) Fauts, Kurt and Kristine Volovsek, Amy and Kim Yurkovich; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Aselin, Anna, Justin and Rachael; two sisters, Margie Jeras, Apache Junction, Ariz., and Betty Fraid, West Allis, two brothers, Tony Volovsek, Kamiah, Idaho, and John Volovsek, Eagle Pass, Texas; one brother-in-law, Vitko Staut, Greenwood; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Volovsek, Loyal, and Virginia Volovsek, Greenwood; four stepchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Anna Lohrman, Elizabeth Volovsek, and Mary Staut; and four brothers, Frank Jr., Joe, Willie, and Al Volovsek.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
