Edward J. Kokaly, 88, Marshfield, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the Marshfield Center. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield followed by military rites at the funeral home by the American Legion Post #54 of Marshfield.

Edward Kokaly was born on July 1, 1918, in Marshfield, to Martin and Josephine (nee Smolich) Kokaly. He attended school in Willard and graduated from Greenwood High School. He then served in the United States Army Air Force during World War ll from Nov. 25, 1941, until his honorable as a corporal on Oct. 23, 1945. He married Frances D. Ruzic on Aug. 9, 1947, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. They farmed in Willard from 1945 to 1950, then in the town of Richfield, Wood County, from 1950 until 1980. After retiring from the farm, he worked as a security guard for the Marshfield Clinic until 1998. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, golfing and reading. He was a member of the American Legion Post #54 of Marshfield, VFW Post # 1866 of Marshfield and the Marshfield Senior Center.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; three daughters, Frances (John) Polacek, Appleton, and their son, Jeff, Diane (Jeff) Raachke, Clintonville, and their sons, Lucas and Aaron, and Kathy (Jeff) Konopacky, Custer, and one sister, Avis Hartman, Normal, Ill.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Emily Ross and Edna Putka; and two brothers, Martin and Reinhold Kokaly.

Memorials would be appreciated to the Ronald McDonald House of Marshfield.
