Denk, Leonard F. #2 (30 MAR 1913 - 6 MAY 2007)

Leonard F. Denk, 94, formerly of Loyal, died on Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the Colonial Center where he had been a resident since Jan.9, 2005. Visitation will be held at the Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, on Wednesday, May 9, from 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and again on Thursday, May 10, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Very Rev. Roman Kaiser will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.

Leonard Francis Denk was born on March 30, 1913, to William and Mary (nee Gintner) Denk on the home farm in Greenwood. He was a 1930 graduate of Greenwood High School. He married Mary L. Scherer on Nov. 23, 1935, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. They farmed and raised their family in this area. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and had a great love for music, singing and dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, his children, Sharon (Allen) Schoonover, Loyal, Diane (Gerald) Anderegg, Loyal, LaVonne (Charles) Dragon, Hamilton, Ohio, Patricia Denk, Marshfield, Kathleen (Lawrence) Hutchinson, Stanford, Linda (Robert) Newcomer, Woodbridge, Va., Jeffrey (Kate) Denk, Long Beach, Calif., and Gordon Denk, Spencer; 13 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; his brothers and sisters, Virgil Denk, Decorah, Iowa, Marion (Harold) Lyons, Hot Springs Village, Ark., William (Marcia) Denk Jr., Greenwood, Bernard (Bev) Denk, Greenwood, Dorothy Wagner, Greenwood, John "Jack" (Shirley) Denk, Genesee Depot, and Ronald (Mary Jo), Cedarburg.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Gerald, Abdon, Robert, and Adelbert Denk; and his children, Kristin, Kenneth, and Terrance, and one grandson, Jimmy Lee, in infancy.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, is assisting the family with arrangements.
