Traeder, Martha (14 Feb. 1889 - 7 June 1930)

Mrs. Wm. E. Traeder passed away suddenly Sunday, June 7th, at the age of forty-one years, three months and twenty-seven days at her home in the town of Frankfort after an illness of forty-eight hours, puerperal elampia being the cause of her departure to the distant shore. Funeral services were held at the Freiden Lutheran church in the town of Frankfort, Wisconsin, Wednesday, June 11th, Rev. E. Notbaun officiating, and internment was made in the Freiden cemetery.

The deceased was born in Buffalo, N. Y., Feb. 14, 1889, and, when five years old, moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Behnke, to Rome, Wis. On Feb. 24, 1909, she was married to Wm. Traeder of Rome, Wis. To this union, eight children were born, namely: Harold, LaVerna, Henriette, Wm. Jr., Gaylord, Evelyn, Norma and an infant son six days old. She also leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, her aged parents at Rome, seven sisters and one brother. Her brothers and sisters are Mrs. John Klittke, Rome; Mrs. Edith Burdick, Mrs. Erwin Steinke, Mrs. Gilbert Streich, all of Janesville; Mrs. Fred Maas, Mrs. Emil Schnitzer of Watertown; Mrs. Arthur Fink, Watertown; Mrs. Emil Behnke, Rome, Wis.

She was a faithful member of the Lutheran church and was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need - both in acts of kindness and in words. She was a devoted mother, a kind neighbor and a true friend; and it is with a heavy heart that her many friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.

** Note: Mrs. Traeder’s first name is from the 1930 Federal Census for Frankfort, Wisconsin.

***Puerperal eclampsia: Convulsions and coma that are associated with hypertension, edema, or proteinuria, occurring in a woman immediately following childbirth.
