Gates, Alma (12 Nov. 1882 - 6 Apr. 1930)

 

The community of Cherokee was surprised and grieved to hear the sudden death of Mrs. Alma Gates, nee Wendel, wife of Robert Gates of the town of Norrie, which occurred Sunday following an illness of six days. The Gates family lived at Cherokee until seventeen years ago when they went to the town of Norrie to make their home. She was well known throughout the county through her work with the girls’ 4-H clubs in her town.

The deceased was born November 12, 1882, at Spencer and was married there April 19, 1906. She had lived in the town of Norrie seventeen years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are the widower; four children, Mrs. Herman Borchardt of the town of Plover and Lida Mae, Bernard and Kenneth Gates, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wendel of Spencer; and two sisters, Mrs. William Roth and Mrs. Otto Heintz of Colby.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wendel of Spencer, Mrs. O. H. Heintz and daughter, Mrs. John Coates, and Mrs. William Roth went to the town of Norrie on Sunday and stayed until after the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Roth of Marshfield, Bill Roth, his son, Roland, and daughter, Norma; Mrs. Charles Reis and O. H. Heintz attended the funeral Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services were held at Birnamwood and burial followed in the Birnamwood cemetery.

**Fred Julius Rastl was born on July 16, 1911, the son of John Herman Rastl (1882-1951) and Hulda Matzke (1889-1970). He died on June 27, 1991 at 79 years of age. He resided in Wittenberg, Shawano County, Wisconsin 54499.

Obit: Emil William Bloch (1904-1965)

Green Lake – Information has been received of the death of Emil Bloch, Greeley, Colo., on Sept. 16, 1965.  He was born in Poy Sippi, Waushara County, Wis., Sept. 19, 1904, but his early life was spent in Green Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Lida, two sons, Robert and Kenneth, both of Denver, and one daughter, Beverly, at home.

Other survivors are six brothers, Reinhold and Otto, Green Lake, Gustave and Edwin, Wausau, Bert, Waupun, and Bernhardt, Monon, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Alf, Berlin. Services and Interment were in Greeley Sunset Memorial Gardens--Devotions Section.

Obit: Bloch, Robert Donald (1935-2020)

 

Robert Donald Bloch was born on October 12, 1935, in Wausau, WI, to Emil and Lida Bloch. He was raised in Wausau until the family moved to Greeley, CO, when he was 17 years old. He finished high school and graduated from Greeley High School in 1953. He attended college briefly until he realized his love of being a long-haul truck driver.

Bob served his country in the army for 4 years. He was a part of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was immensely proud of his service and spoke of this time often over his lifetime. After his discharge he returned to truck driving, his first love.

He met his wife Carmelita J. Bainbrich in 1963 on a blind date. They were married on May 9, 1964 in Denver, CO. He and "Carmie" raised their 2 children in Glenwood Springs, CO.

Bob also has many incredibly special cousins, nieces, and nephews that he leaves behind. His family was of upmost importance to him and he relished all the many occasions and moments celebrated with them.
