Purkis, Laura (23 Dec. 1870 - 21 Nov. 1950)

Mrs. Ed. (Laura) Purkis, Sr., 79, died at her home here (Unity, Clark Co., Wis.) Tuesday morning at 2:30 A.M. Death was attributed to old age complications.

Mrs. Purkis, nee Laura Gregerson, was born Dec. 23, 1870 in Denmark. She was married to Ed Purkis July 3, 1886 at Spencer.

They lived on a farm near Unity for many years before moving to the village of Unity about 20 years ago.

Mr. Purkis died February 19, 1947. Three children also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Clyde, Unity, and Frank, Oak Park, Ill.

The body will repose at the Lulloff Funeral Home until 11 A.M. Saturday when it will be taken to the Trinity Lutheran Church where Rev. Witt will conduct services at 2 P.M. Burial will be made in the Colby cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ed. (Laura) Purkis were held Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles Witt officiating. Burial was made in the Colby cemetery.

Pallbearers were Henry Binning, Tom Loughead, Martin Evenson, Frank Pfeffer, Earl Salter and Anton Korntved.

In charge of flowers were Mrs. Clarence Edblom, Mrs. Frank Pfeffer, Mrs. Sam Stark and Mrs. John Johnson.

Mrs. Henry Binning presided at the organ.

Out-of-town persons attending the funeral were Mrs. Kate Purkis, Mrs. Orland Purkis, Oak Park, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Purkis, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Purkis, Lisle, Ill.; Ernest Knudson, Leola Knudson, Athens; Robert Hohn, Marshfield; Mrs. Wilma Ritzloff, Gordon and Jack Jacobson, Milwaukee; Eva and Utha Kalk, Wausau; Mrs. Vance Wiza, Cudahy.
