Krebs, Mr./Mrs. Otto (Gold - 27 JAN 1939)

On Friday Jan. 27, 1939, Otto Krebs and his wife were married fifty years. They celebrated the event by inviting around 80 neighbors, relatives and friends to their home Saturday to have supper and enjoy the evening with them. A bounteous meal was served to all present which was fully enjoyed and praised. The house was decorated for the occasion with gold and green streamers as was the table with a large wedding cake trimmed in gold and gold candles and candle sticks. A large bouquet of jonquils adorned the table.

Mr. and Mrs. Krebs have lived on the twenty-six road 3 miles south and 1 ¼ miles of Spencer on a farm for the past 37 years. They formerly lived in Green Lake County. They are parents of nine children, six of them were at their parents home to help celebrate the golden anniversary. The children are Bill, (Martha) Mrs. Fay Damon, (Mae) Mrs. Herbert Krueger, (Ella) Mrs. Jerold Hammet all of Beloit, (Bertha) Mrs. Hulce, Rhinelander, Carl, Montana, Clarence, Wisconsin Rapids, and (Minnie) Mrs. Gaffney, of Marshfield, Ernest at home with his parents, taking care of the farm.

Mrs. Krebs wore a grey dress and Mr. Krebs a dark suit and both wore gold shoulder bouquets.

Those from away who attended the reception were Mrs. Krebs’ brother from Colby, E. Perske, Mrs. A. Damon, Mrs. Herb Krueger and daughter Janene, Mrs. Jerold Hammet and daughter Marilynn all from Beloit, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Smith and daughter Evelyn of Loyal. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mueller, Marshfield. Cards were played and songs were sung. Mrs. Krebs sang the song that they sang ay her wedding fifty years ago. The song was "Lead On", in German language.

At a late hour the guests departed wishing the couple many more years of married life.
