Neumann, Herman (23 Feb. 1878 - 1 Jan. 1946)

Spencer - (Special) - Herman Neumann, 67, of the Farmers Co-op, died of apoplexy and complications at 8:30 o’clock Tuesday evening at his home at Spencer. He had been in poor health the past six months.

Mr. Neumann, a farmer in the Town of Brighton his entire life, was born in the Town of Unity Feb. 23, 1878.

Surviving are his widow, the former Anna Schwantes of the Town of Brighton, whom he married 43 years ago at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, four sons, Walter and Maynard of the Town of Brighton, Raymond of the Town of Sherman, and Cpl. Robert of the U.S. Marine Corps stationed at Camp LeJeune, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Linda (Arthur) Beisner, Spencer, and Mrs. Ruth (George) Hohlfelder, Glen View, Ill., and 14 grandchildren. Three children preceded him in death.

There are two brothers, Frank and Carl of Spencer, and a sister, Mrs. Herman Seefeld, Town of Sherman.

Mr. Neumann was affiliated with the Farmers Co-op at Spencer for 25 years and served as its president several times. He also represented the McMillan Insurance Grange, Marshfield, and the Wisconsin Farmers Mutual at Juneau the past 30 years.

The body will lie in state at the Central Wisconsin Co-operative Funeral Home, Marshfield, on Thursday, and on Friday afternoon it will be taken to the family home in the Town of Brighton, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, followed by a 2 o’clock service at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. H. C. Hinz will have charge of the services, and burial will be made in the family lot in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Brighton.
