Thompson, Esther (15 Aug. 1910 - 17 Apr. 1963)

Curtiss - Mrs. Alfred Thompson, 42, rural Curtiss, died at University Hospital Madison at 8:30 p.m. of injuries she received in a traffic mishap west of Medford on March 27. She had been hospitalized at Memorial Hospital in Medford and was removed to University Hospital about two weeks ago. Her death raises the highway toll to three in Taylor County.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Rev. Woodring officiating. Burial is to be in Pine Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home at Owen, Wis.

The former Esther Pudlas was born at Curtiss on Aug. 15, 1910, and was a lifelong resident of that area.

She attended Curtiss grade schools, the Wausau Business College, Taylor County Normal and the Eau Claire Business College. For nine years she taught in rural Curtiss schools.

Her marriage took place on June 6, 1936, here to Alfred Thompson. After their marriage, the couple lived in the village until 1947 when they moved to a farm north of here. She was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church, and its Missionary and Helping Hand Societies.

Surviving are her husband, two children, Dale, Willard, and Karen, at home. She is also survived by two grandchildren, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas, Curtiss, and a sister, Mrs. Tolve (Grace) Kallio, route 2, Owen, Wis.
