Rueben Schulte

Abbotsford - Rueben F. Schulte, 79, of Abbotsford, died Dec 31, 2000, at St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield, where he was admitted the previous day. Since September 2000, he has resided at Continental Manor in Abbotsford, Wis.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford, Wis. The Rev. Paul C Hunsicker will officiate. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Pinter; Norbert Behringer; Max Ramker; Donald Fink; Cortland Lueth and Jerry Vrana.

Rueben was born Sept. 22, 1921 in the town of Colby to Charles and Alvina (nee Awe) Schulte.

He married Lorraine Dassow Sept. 7, 1963, in Medford.

Rueben worked on the family farm in the town of Holton. He was a self-employed milk hauler, delivering Kraft Foods in Milan for 40 years. He retired in 1986 due to ill health.

Rueben was an avid bowler for Duke’s team. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and traveling. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and served on the cemetery board for the church.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lorraine Schulte; one step-daughter, Joyce Graffunder of Abbotsford; one sister; Leona Behringer of Greenwood; two step-grandchildren, Kevin (Shari) Graffunder of Cross Plains, and Kent Graffunder and friend Tammy Schorer of Abbotsford, Wis.

Rueben was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; Norbert Schulte; one sister; Lorinda Fink; and one step-son-in-law, Walter Graffunder.

A memorial will be established in Rueben Schulte’s name at a later date.

The Maurina Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.
