Local Happenings

Paul King was taken to the hospital at Black River Falls last Friday. An operation was performed to drain the fluid from his lungs. He will probably be at the hospital for a few weeks. Favorable reports are received on his condition.

I. C. Sobczak and family were over from Alma Center Sunday.

F. A. Tritsch has been confined to his home with a bronchial attack the past week. Several days he was in bed with the attack.

Some of our folks recall Rev. Paul Hutchins, evangelist, who was in this vicinity several years ago. Some time later he was afflicted with tuberculosis and was confined in a sanatorium for treatment. While recovering and yet at the san, he wrote a popular novel of western range life. Copies of the publication have been received by friends here.

Grant Winner has received word of the sudden death of a sister-in-law, Mrs. Amelia Winner, which occurred at Pasadena, Calif., last Monday. The remains will be brought to her home at Alma Center for funeral services Saturday, and interment will be in Sechlerviller Cemetery.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hardwick, Jan. 6.

Mrs. F. W. Jenswold received word that her brother, August Wittren, had passed away recently at his home in Butte, Mont.

Henry Young, writing from Malta, Mont., to renew his subscription to Enterprise, states that he has been in Malta for the past two months, but expects to return to Manetta, Wash., soon. He states that it has been cold in Montana, 22 below zero part of the time. The subscription for his niece, Mrs. Ivanish, was also enclosed so we express a double thank you.

Mrs. R. J. Stuve took Mrs. Earl Bemis and the latter’s little daughter to the clinic Monday where the child had a treatment for an ear trouble.
