Molczan, Joseph (August 2, 1918 - March 6, 2007)

Joseph Molczan, age 88, of Hayward, WI died peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at his home.

Joseph was born on August 2, 1918 in Lublin, WI, the son of Andrew and Josephine (Hwila) Molczan. He served in the Civilian Conservations Corps from July 15, 1936 to August 8, 1939. Joe then joined the United States Army where he was stationed under the 104th Infantry Division in Co. G 413th Infantry. As WWII started, Joe fought in many battles to include Northern France, Rhineland, Aleutian Islands and the battle of Attu. Joe was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct, American Defense, 4 Bronze Battle Stars, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and 5 Overseas Bars. He served his country from October 27, 1939 to June 23, 1945.

After his discharge from the Army, Joe farmed the homestead in Lublin until he moved to Colorado where he met and married Frances L. Johns. Joe and Frances later moved to Ladysmith where Joe owned a saw filing and small engine repair shop. Joe and Frances later moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where Joe worked as a Union Carpenter until retiring to Hayward where he continued part-time as a carpenter and cabinet maker until the Lord took him home.

Joseph is survived by his grandson Mark (Alana) Grant, Big Lake, MN; great-grandchildren Chris and Kelley Grant, Big Lake, MN; his sister Anna Kolesar of Owen, WI; nephew Chester Molczan of Roberts, WI; nephew Anthony (Judy) Kolesar of Washburn, WI; and many other nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Josephine; his wife, Frances; his daughter, Cheryl; sisters: Rose, Caroline and Stella; and brothers: Frank and Casmir.

At Joe’s request there will be no funeral service. Interment will be at the Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI on June 15, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with full Military Honors.

The Andreson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
