Anna Klemish was born June 17th, 1857, in Moravia, Austria, daughter of Joseph and Barbara Klemish, and died at West Salem, Feb. 14th, 1933, aged 75 years, 7 months and 27 days.

She came with her parents to America at the age of sixteen years, and settled in Eau Claire, where they resided a short time, and then moved to Jackson county. In 1857, she was united in marriage to Nicholas Kelsh at St. Joseph's church at Fairview, and the young couple settled as pioneers on what is now known as the Kelsh farm in Garden Valley. There she resided until the death of her husband in 1931, and when she moved with her oldest daughter to West Salem.

Mrs. Kelsh had been well enough to be about the house until the morning she passed away. She is survived by five daughters, and two sons, one sister, and one brother, eighteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. One daughter and two sons preceded her in death.

The surviving children are Miss Mary Kelsh and Mrs. Louis Lang, of West Salem; Mrs. Margaret Ray living on the home farm in Garden Valley; Mrs. Bertha Dixon of Ohmaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Lizzie Reineck, of Hixton; Ervin, of Houghtonburg; and Louis, of Milwaukee; her brother, Henry Klemish, and Mrs. Josie Leiser, the surviving sister, of Beloit. All were present at the funeral services, which were held at the Immaculate Conception church at Alma Center last Friday morning. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Kelsh lived throught the hardships of the pioneer days, as an early settler of Garden Valley. She was a woman who wahs loved and respected by all of her neighbors, who mourn with her immediate family in her death.
