Strassburger, Edwin (26 OCT 1883 - 23 OCT 1931)

Friends were saddened this week to learn of the death of Edwin Strassburger, who passed away last Friday, Oct. 23rd, 1931, at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls, following an emergency appendicitis operation.

Funeral services were held Monday at Reformed Church, Curtiss, where he was a member, with Rev. H.K. Hartman of Colby officiating. Burial took place at Pine Hill Cemetery, with Frank Plockelman, Herman, Emil, Paul and Henry Hoffman and Harvey Meyer acting as pallbearers.

Edwin Ernest Strassburger was born Oct. 26, 1883, on the farm home in the Town of Mayville (Clark Co., Wis.) and was 48 years old at time of death. He has lived with his parents most of the time, taking care of his mother since his father passed away in 1904. He took ill suddenly on Saturday, Oct. 17, and was rushed to the Chippewa hospital where he was operated on Monday. Due to other internal trouble it was apparent he could not live and he passed away a few days later. Edwin attended the Brady School and since then has conducted the home farm. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and his many neighbors and friends who have known him from childhood.

He leaves to mourn, his mother, Mrs. Sophia Strassburger, two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Schultz and Mrs. Oscar Jensen, and two brothers, Fred and Wallace.

Those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strassburger of Fox river Grove, Ill., Mrs. Phillip Vollrath, an aunt, and cousins, Henry and Rudolph Vollrath, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Vollrath and Mrs. August Schwarze, of Greenwood.

His father was Charles "Carl" Strassburger (with multiple spellings).
