Guth, Byron M. (12 OCT 1877 - 31 JUL 1931)

Byron Guth, well known resident of Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), and country for many years, passed away at his home in the village last Friday. Mr. Guth has suffered with a lingering illness for the past six years and although his death was not unexpected it was a shock to his loved ones and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home with Wallace Tabor and companion officiating, and interment took place in the Memorial Cemetery with Joe Fritsch, Frank Fritsche, Frank Neundorf, Charles Neundorf, Christ Skilbred and John Zahorka acting as pallbearers.

Byron Milton Guth was born October 12, 1877, at Campbellsport, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.N. Guth, and died at the age of 53 years, 9 months and 19 days. On Dec. 16, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Lorena Beck, at Clintonville. To this happy union three children were born, one of whom is deceased. Mr. Guth leaves his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Birkholz of Ogema, and Miss Eldred, at home, his father, C.N. Guth of Clintonville, two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Gould of Bear Creek, and Mrs. Henry Bleck of Clintonville, one brother, Edwin, of Dorchester, and two grandchildren.

Mr. Guth was a fine upstanding Christian, beloved by all who knew him. His sterling character made him an outstanding example of citizenship and neighborliness. He will be missed greatly by his loved ones and by the host of friends he attracted during his residence in this community.

Out of town relatives and friends present for the services were C.N. Guth, Mrs. Mary Bleck, Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Bleck, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Below, Mr. and Mrs. Art Peouer, Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Bleck and Mrs. Geo. Dieter, all of Clintonville, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gould, Bear Creek, Mrs. Minnie Phillips, Chicago, Miss Margaret Rathenberger, Campbellsport, Charles Illian, H. Rosenthal, A. Reufnacht, C. Werck, of West Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dix and John Dix and children, of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bork and two children of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Birkholz and two children, of Ogema, and Mr. and Mrs. John Dahl of Granton.

It can truly be said of Mr. Guth that he "so lived that when thy summons comes to join that innumerable caravan…thou go sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams." The Clarion joins the many friends in offering sincerest sympathy to the bereaved ones.
